Here are some highlights from our week:

Highlights

  • Changing the Conversation about Professional Growth: Moving from Evaluation to Empowerment – Batavia Local School District was featured in the Battelle for Kids blog. They were cited as "a model for how schools can implement a more impactful professional development system that complements teacher evaluation." Check out the blog post here. Great work! 

  • Learn and Earn with Badges Joel Moore, River View principal, shares some great info on the theory behind badges in education and their intrinsic and extrinsic value.   • OAC Twitter Chats – This week's #OACteach chat focused on the Third Grade Reading Guarantee, lots of great ideas for implementation were shared! Big thanks to all participants and our co-hosts Alea Barker (@AleaBarker) and Krissy Machamer (@kmachamer).   • OAC Website and Collaboration Space Enhancements – We're excited to announce more enhancements to the OAC Website and Collaboration Space, including:



    - A new Our Initiatives section of the OAC website including information about the Personalized Learning Network and our Straight A Grant work. This part of the page is open to the public, we encourage you to share with your districts and communities to help answer questions and share information about our work.



    Collaboration Space orientation video that highlights the features and functionalities of the space. This is a great video to share in your districts to introduce folks to the Collaboration Space. Watch the video here. You must be logged in to view (using your Ohio Portal username and password).

    Search functionality within the Discussion Forums, allowing you to search all discussion threads by topic/keyword. With the growing number of discussions, this will allow you to quickly find what you are looking for. 

    Separate discussion forums for the Straight A Grant and Professional Development Coordinators (PDCs). If you are a PDC, please introduce yourself here

  • OERC half-day learning event June 18 – The Ohio Education Research Center is hosting a half-day learning session, Extending Your Learning Through Research That Works! featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Ginny Rammel, Superintendent of Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools, on Wednesday, June 18 following the Connect for Success conference.
