It takes teamwork to make the dream work

OAC Weekly Snapshot, February 24-28

We made it through February...on to March! Here's hoping for warmer temperatures to come soon.

Here are some highlights from our week:

  • OAC Districts in the News – Students from Mid-East Career and Technology Centers visited Franklin Local's Philo Junior High School as part of a college and career readiness program. Mid-East students shared their experiences and helped the junior high students understand the opportunities available to them. Read about this event in the Zanesville Times Recorder article. And, Coshocton City and River View Local Schools share their views and experiences on implementing OTES in this Coshocton Tribune article. As always, we're proud of our OAC districts!

  • CLP Regional Meetings – The Regional CLP meetings concluded on February 26. Superintendents, curriculum directors, and CLPs joined Battelle for Kids staff members for a presentation of the Leadership Team Study where personalized results of the Diagnostic Tool Survey were shared with each district. We also discussed the existing state, desired state, and resource allocations in relationship to ACT and dual enrollment and held a question and answer session on Straight A and OAC 2.0. The next CLP meeting is March 12 at Battelle for Kids. Big thanks to all our CLPs! We appreciate your hard work.

  • TIF Coordinator Meeting – It was great seeing all of our TIF Coordinators today! We had a productive day reviewing data and successes from Year 2 award payouts; going over the process for starting Year 3 award payouts; and gearing up for submitting Year 4 award models. Don't forget to check out the refreshed Ohio TIF section of the Ohio Portal for information about the work and impact, as well as a one-stop-shop for TIF educators to access relevant resources. Materials from today's meeting will be posted for TIF Coordinators on the Ohio TIF Resources Page.

  • New Opportunity for Educators: Earn a Personalized Learning Share Badge – With our commitment to growing a robust professional learning network, we are introducing a series of professional practice badges OAC educators can earn throughout the remainder of this school year. Badges will serve as endorsements of knowledge and skills by recognizing professional learning, demonstrated expertise, and other achievements. Earning badges will help you enhance your practice and connect with your OAC peers. And, depending on district approval, you can also earn CEU credit for completing a badge.

Sound interesting? Check out the first badge in our series—the Personalized Learning Share Badge. OAC educators can connect, share, and collaborate with each other on the OAC Collaboration Space anytime, anywhere. By earning the Share Badge, you will explore the features and functionality of the Collaboration Space, build expertise about using the Collaboration Space, and begin to connect and share with your peers. Get started here (use your Ohio Portal username and password to log in)

Thanks to everyone who is already involved! Visit the PL Share Badge: Sharing Best Practices discussion to see what kind of sharing is taking place through the Share Badge.
