It takes teamwork to make the dream work

OAC Weekly Snapshot, August 19-23

Welcome to Friday! We hope the start of the new school year has gone smoothly! There's lots to report this week. Here's a summary:

  • New OAC Video – Have you seen the new OAC video Innovation: Extending the Reach of Highly Effective Practices, Educators, and Professional Learning Systems? This video highlights the components of the System of Support and the value of a focused, peer-embedded professional development approach as a way to leverage highly effective educators and their practices. We are pretty proud of it, and our districts should be too. Many of you are featured in it. Watch and share! All four OAC videos are now on our website. In the next couple of weeks we'll be giving districts information about how you can use these videos in your communities.
  • Rural Education National Forum – Have you registered for the Rural Education National Forum at the Greater Columbus Convention Center October 31-November 1? This Forum is designed to highlight powerful instructional and leadership practices in rural districts, focus strategic conversations around rural opportunities and challenges with national and local experts, and build a network for collaboration among education, community, and business leaders. We encourage our OAC districts to attend. It'll be the perfect place to share our great work and learn from others with similar challenges. Click here for more information and to register. Early bird registration ends August 30.
  • OAC Communication and Collaboration Tools – Don't forget about the guides and supporting materials available to you for the new communication and collaboration tools. They can be found on our Collaboration Space (use your Ohio Portal username and password to login). Our goal is for every OAC educator to know what tools are available, how to find them, and understand the basics of using them. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with questions by leaving a comment below, starting a discussion on the Collaboration Space, or send a tweet to @OHAppCollab.
  • Show Your OAC Pride – Do you have the Proud Member of the OAC button prominently displayed on your district website? As we begin our fourth year together, we want everyone to show their OAC pride. Let's make sure everyone knows who we are, what we do, and the value we bring to our students and communities. One of the easiest ways to do this is to include the OAC button on your website and link back to the OAC section of the Ohio Portal. Please visit the Collaboration Space to download the graphic, instructions, and sample content. If you have questions, please contact Julie Vujevich. Our goal is to have this button added to all 21 district websites by September 13, but we need your help!
