As we inch toward back to school, it's great to hear the excitement from our OAC educators as they prepare for starting the 2013-2014 school year. Here's a summary of our week:

  • TIF Kick-Off – We had a great day on Wednesday with TIF Coordinators, Superintendents, and Treasurers planning for the TIF work this year. Districts received tips and tools to support back-to-school communications about Ohio TIF, preparations for the Year 2 award payouts, and updates on OTES/OPES implementation and assessment literacy work. Our esteemed TIF Coordinators also shared research and findings from study groups working on student surveys and perception data as well as career ladders. In the afternoon, TIF districts worked with Battelle for Kids Human Capital Team on building a legacy for TIF through a comprehensive human capital management system. Look for more information about the TIF work being shared in future blog posts, and on Twitter using the hashtag #OhioTIF.
  • Personalized Learning Network Connectors – This year, the OAC Personalized Learning Network is recruiting connectors to help us, help you connect, learn, share, and grow. OAC districts have been asked to identify a PLN connector for every school building by August 15. Need more information? Read this blog post.
  • Tami Fitzgerald, of West Muskingum School District, Selected for Teacher Ambassador Fellowship – Tami Fitzgerald, a science teacher at West Muskingum High School, was one of eight teachers selected for the 2013-2014 Teacher Ambassador Fellowships at the U.S. Department of Education. Read the press release here. Congratulations, Tami! We're excited to follow your journey throughout the upcoming year.
